What is Benefits Fraud & How It Affects You
Benefits fraud refers to any abuse, misuse, or overutilization of the plan, as well as inappropriate health provider billing practices—whether intentional or not. All beneficiaries of the UA Local 67 Benefits Plan are affected by fraud, as fraudulent claims paid by the Trust Fund limit the plan’s ability to provide benefits.
GreenShield’s Fraud Prevention Program
GreenShield’s Fraud Prevention Program employs a variety of tools to prevent and detect fraudulent activity. This program involves a dedicated team that analyzes claims data, looking for unusual claiming patterns or anything else that stands out as odd. To maintain the integrity of the plan, GreenShield will periodically audit claims. If inappropriate claiming behavior is suspected, they may take extra steps when adjudicating and paying claims.
Report Suspected Fraud
If you suspect fraud or the possible abuse of your benefits plan, your concerns can be reported anonymously. You can call toll-free at 1.800.265.5615 ext. 6921 or contact GreenShield customer service at 1-888-525-7587 and ask for the Confidential TIPS Hotline.
