Your SUB Plan for Trade School
Unlock financial support while you enhance your skills! As a member of UA Local 67, you can receive $240 per week while attending a trade school or a J.A.T.C. approved training course related to your trade. SUB payments for trade school do not count towards the SUB Plan allowable 10 weeks maximum per calendar year.
SUB Eligibility
To receive SUB payments for trade school, you must:
- Be an active member,
- Be attending a trade school or a J.A.T.C. approved training course related to your trade, and
- Sign the out-of-work list with UA Local 67.
You are not eligible for the SUB Plan for trade school if you are in receipt of, or previously received, a UA-sponsored pension plan (i.e., after you retire).
How to Apply
Submitting Your Initial SUB Claim
To make a SUB claim, send your Verification of Attendance (issued by your college or by a Local other than UA Local 67), along with your name and union number, to UA Local 67 Benefits using one of the following methods:
- Email: to info@ua67benefits.ca. Make sure to request a confirmation of receipt.
- Canada Post: Mail your required supporting documents.
- In-Person: Drop off your documents at UA Local 67 Benefits.
UA Local 67 Benefits must receive your Verification of Attendance within 90 days following the start of your training program.
Continuing Your SUB Claim
Once your SUB claim is approved, you will receive payments for the entire duration of your course. If the course is ongoing, payments will be made weekly until the final week. If the course has already ended, you will receive a lump-sum payment covering the full course duration. You can apply for the SUB plan each time you begin a trade school course related to your trade.
